💡 General

Mobile Minder Agent is an Android notification alert app that brings back the LED notification light feature that older Android phones used to have — and enhances it significantly. When you receive a text message, call, or battery alert, the app can flash your phone's flashlight in a custom pattern, display a visual animation on your screen, and play a sound — all fully customizable.

Mobile Minder Agent requires Android 9.0 (API level 28) or higher. It is optimized for modern Android versions and works best on Android 10 and above.

No. Mobile Minder Agent is an Android-only application. iOS does not allow apps to run notification listener services or control the flashlight in the way required for this app's functionality.

Yes, Mobile Minder Agent is free to download and use from Google Play. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions.

⚙️ Setup & Permissions

The app requires several permissions to function, each with a specific purpose:

  • Notification Access — to detect incoming text messages and trigger alerts
  • Display Over Other Apps — to show animation overlays on your screen
  • Camera / Flashlight — to control the flashlight LED (camera is never used for photos/video)
  • Phone State — to detect incoming calls
  • Boot Completed — to restart the alert service after a device reboot

All permissions are used only for the stated purpose and never to collect data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

The "Display Over Other Apps" (also called SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) permission is required to display visual animation overlays on your screen when a notification arrives. Without this permission, the screen animation feature cannot work. The overlay is only displayed briefly when an alert fires — it does not monitor or capture anything on your screen.

You can grant this permission by going to Settings → Apps → Mobile Minder Agent → Display Over Other Apps, or by following the prompt in the app.

Go to Settings → Notifications → Notification Access (the exact path varies by Android version and device manufacturer). Find "Mobile Minder Agent" in the list and enable it. The app will also prompt you with a link to this setting when you first set it up.

After installing and granting the required permissions:

  • Open the app and tap on Text Messages or Calls in the home screen accordion
  • Enable the watcher with the toggle switch
  • Choose an animation from the list (the "Hearts" system animation is a great starting point)
  • Optionally choose a sound and a flash pattern
  • Tap Save — you're all set!
Features

Priority rules let you assign different alert styles to specific contacts. You can configure up to three named priorities (Priority 1, 2, and 3) plus an "Others" catch-all category:

  • Priority 1 — your most important contacts. When a message/call matches, it uses the Priority 1 animation, sound, and flash pattern.
  • Priority 2 & 3 — secondary tiers with their own separate alert styles.
  • Others — anyone not matched by P1/P2/P3 uses this default alert.

Matching is done by contact name — the app checks if the sender name contains your priority rule text (case-insensitive). For example, entering "Mom" in Priority 1 will match any sender whose name contains "Mom".

Yes! Tap the Animations section in the home screen and then the "+" button to create a new animation. You can choose:

  • An icon from the built-in icon library
  • An animation effect: Fade, Grow, Chase, Pulse, or Solid
  • Direction: Up, Down, Left, Right, or None
  • Opacity (0–100%)
  • Background transparency

Use the preview button to see exactly how your animation will look before saving it.

Open the Tap page from the main menu. Tap the big button in a rhythm — the app records the exact timing between taps. When you stop tapping, your pattern is saved. You can then assign that pattern to any alert type.

Yes. Mobile Minder Agent runs a background service that starts at boot and stays active. Battery level changes are monitored by the system service, so you will receive battery alerts even when the app's UI is not open. Make sure to grant battery optimization exemption if prompted, as aggressive battery savers on some devices may restrict background services.

Yes — the Battery Monitor has a time range setting so you can restrict battery alerts to specific hours (for example, 8 AM to 10 PM only). This prevents overnight charging from triggering alerts while you sleep. Time range settings for text and call alerts may be added in a future update.

Yes. In addition to the three built-in system sounds (Chimes, Horn, Waves), you can import your own audio files. Navigate to the Sounds section and use the import option to add custom audio files from your device storage.

🔒 Privacy & Data

No. Mobile Minder Agent collects zero personal data. No information is transmitted off your device. There are no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no cloud sync. Your settings and priority rules are stored only on your device and are deleted when you uninstall the app. See our full Privacy Policy.

The app uses Android's Notification Listener Service to detect when a notification arrives. It reads only the sender name to match your priority rules — it does not read, store, or transmit the content (body text) of your messages. The message content is never accessed by the app.

No account is required. There is no sign-in screen, no email address needed, and no user profile. The app works entirely standalone on your device.

🔧 Troubleshooting

If the flashlight is not responding, check the following:

  • Make sure the Camera/Flashlight permission is granted in Settings → Apps → Mobile Minder Agent → Permissions
  • Ensure the flash alert is enabled in the relevant alert settings (Text, Calls, or Battery)
  • Some devices may restrict flashlight access when the camera app is open
  • If using a case with a lens cover, make sure the flashlight is not physically obstructed

The most common cause is a missing permission:

  • Verify that "Display Over Other Apps" is granted — go to Settings → Apps → Mobile Minder Agent → Display over other apps and ensure it's enabled
  • Make sure an animation is actually selected in your alert settings (not set to "None")
  • On some MIUI / Xiaomi devices, there may be an additional "Show on Lock Screen" permission to enable

The app should automatically restart its background service after a reboot. If this isn't happening:

  • Check that the app has not been placed in an aggressive battery optimization mode — go to Settings → Battery → Battery Optimization and set Mobile Minder Agent to "Don't optimize" or "Unrestricted"
  • On some devices (especially Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi), manufacturer battery savers can kill background services even with the boot permission granted
  • Open the app once after a reboot to manually restart the service if needed

Text message alerts depend on the Notification Listener Service receiving the notification from your SMS app. Check the following:

  • Notification Access is granted for Mobile Minder Agent
  • Your SMS app's notifications are not silenced or in Do Not Disturb mode
  • If the contact is in a priority group, the sender name in the notification must contain the text you entered for that priority rule
  • Text message watching is enabled (check the toggle in Text Message settings)

You can clear all app data by going to Settings → Apps → Mobile Minder Agent → Storage → Clear Data. This will remove all saved animations, patterns, and settings, returning the app to its fresh-install state. Note: this action cannot be undone.
